Popular fintechs for cross-border transfers and how they differ
"Send money abroad" is served by three quite different kinds of services. They look alike in the app store, but they move money in different ways, and that decides the speed, the price and the paperwork.
Remittance apps
These move fiat to fiat: you pay with a card or a bank account, the recipient gets local currency on a card or an account. The exchange happens inside the app. Well-known names include Wise and Revolut; in our comparison this group is represented by:

Good for: paying rent or family in a country the app supports, when the recipient just wants money on a card. Watch the exchange rate: the fixed fee is often small and the rate is where the cost sits.
Crypto exchanges and platforms
An exchange lets you buy stablecoins with a card or a bank transfer, hold them, and sell them back to fiat or withdraw to any wallet. This is the widest set of currencies and networks, at the price of a bit more interface.

Good for: everyday use, receiving money from abroad, and sending to people who already have a wallet.
How to choose
Do not choose by category; choose by the route. The same service can be the cheapest for EUR to USDT and one of the most expensive for USD to TRY. Enter your pair and amount in the converter and look at the amount that arrives: the list is sorted by it, with the loss against the market rate next to each service. Each service also has its own page with the currencies it accepts and pays out.
